Featuring Special Guests: Bradley Bowman-CMPP Senior Director, Lawrence Muscant-Senior Vice President at FDD, Jonathan Schanzer-Senior Vice President for Research at FDD.

FDD conducts in-depth research, produces accurate and timely analyses, identifies illicit activities, and provides policy options- all with the aim of strengthening US national security and reducing or eliminating threats posed by adversaries and enemies of the United States and other free nations.

Bradley Bowman – CMPP Senior Director
Bradley Bowman serves as senior director of the Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, where he focuses on U.S. defense strategy and policy. He has served as a national security advisor to members of the Senate Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees, as well as an active duty U.S. Army officer, Black Hawk pilot, and assistant professor at West Point.

Bradley spent nearly nine years in the U.S. Senate, including six years as the top defense advisor to Senator Kelly Ayotte, then-senior Republican on the Armed Services Readiness and Management Support Subcommittee. Bradley also served as national security advisor to Senator Todd Young and worked as a Council on Foreign Relations international affairs fellow on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Bradley served more than 15 years on active duty as a U.S. Army officer, including time as a company commander, pilot, congressional affairs officer on the Army staff in the Pentagon, and staff officer in Afghanistan. As an assistant professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Bradley taught courses on American politics, foreign policy, and grand strategy. He also taught a graduate course on “Congress and U.S. National Security Policy” at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

Bradley has testified to Congress and appeared on CNN and BBC. His analysis has been published by The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy, NBC News, Newsweek, Breaking Defense, Defense News, and others. He earned an M.A. in international relations from Yale University and a B.S. in American politics from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Lawrence Muscant – Senior Vice President
Lawrence Muscant is senior vice president at FDD. As a Middle East analyst and speechwriter, Lawrence lectures often on Iran, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and Middle East history to audiences across the globe.

Lawrence received his BA in Political Science from Concordia University and also graduated from its School of Community and Public Affairs. He received his MA in Political Science from Carleton University, where his focus was international relations theory and the Middle East. Lawrence was a PhD candidate at Carleton, where his research focused on American foreign policy in the Middle East.

Jonathan Schanzer – Senior Vice President for Research
Dr. Jonathan Schanzer is senior vice president for research at FDD, where he oversees the work of the organization’s experts and scholars. He is also on the leadership team of FDD’s Center on Economic and Financial Power, a project on the use of financial and economic power as a tool of statecraft.

Jonathan previously worked as a terrorism finance analyst at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he played an integral role in the designation of numerous terrorist financiers. He has held previous think tank research positions at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and the Middle East Forum.

Jonathan testifies often before Congress and publishes widely in the American and international media. He has appeared on American television channels such as Fox News and CNN, and Arabic language television channels such as Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera.
