Youth Engagement Religious School Funds

Marilyn Herskowitz Education Fund

The Marilyn Herskowitz Jewish Education Fund has been created by the Herskowitz family, in loving memory of and in honor of Marilyn Kornstein Herskowitz.

The fund was created to support the following needs of our Temple Beth Am youth:

Jewish Summer Camp Scholarships
High School in Israel Program Scholarships
Other Israel Teen Programs
Jewish educational programs outside of school
Marilyn taught her family the importance of tradition, of community and tzedakah, of faith and love, of education and of the significance of Israel to the Jewish people. The Herskowitz family feels blessed to be able to create this fund and give in this way to Jewish children who can appreciate and love Israel and Judaism the way Marilyn always did.

Keren Yaldi Religious School Fund

Keren Yaldi means “the fund for my children.”This fund was established in 1998 by a group of Religious School parents to be used exclusively by the Temple Beth Am Religious School.

Keren Yaldi is the only Beth Am fund which supports Religious School scholarships. No student is ever turned away from the Religious School because of their family’s inability to pay tuition. We want to ensure that the Keren Yaldi fund is able to provide for the needs of students in years to come.

In Judaism, we have a tradition of making donations in honor of special people, significant occasions and in memory of our loved ones. When you make a donation to Temple Beth Am, please consider donating to the Keren Yaldi Fund. The children of our congregation are the direct beneficiaries of your tzedakah. It is greatly needed and your generosity is deeply appreciated.

YERS Holocaust and Heritage Fund

The YERS Holocaust and Heritage Fund has been created by Temple Beth Am’s Executive Director, Sharón Levi, after going on the 2023 Multigenerational Trip to Poland. He believes that every member of Temple Beth Am should be offered the opportunity to experience firsthand the transformative power of this journey. This Fund will subsidize costs for future trips. This initiative will enable every member to appreciate the significance of this powerful, meaningful, and spiritually enriching Holocaust and Heritage trip.

Camp Jenny

Help send children to Camp Jenny 2024

Every year, our Temple Beth Am senior youth group BAFTY, raises money for Camp Jenny.

BAFTY is asking for your support to send as many youngsters to camp as possible. Your contributions will change the life of an underprivileged child.

Camp Jenny is a project of NFTY-SAR, NFTY-STR, and Camp Coleman, which are programs of the Union for Reform Judaism, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

“To serve is beautiful, but only if it is done with joy and a whole heart and a free mind.”

Pearl S. Buck

Every year, our Temple Beth Am senior youth group, BAFTY, and other youth groups in other regions of the United States, come together to create a wonderful camp experience for an under resourced school in inner-city Atlanta, GA during Memorial Day weekend.

Camp Jenny is run by counselors who are teens from Jewish youth groups, who undergo a very selective admission process. This year, eight of our dedicated and passionate BAFTYites will be representing Temple Beth Am at Camp Jenny.

Camp Jenny costs an average of $75,000 each year and it costs $550 to send one camper for the weekend. The goal is to provide this experience to 150 campers each year. However, this would not be possible without the generous support of our congregants. Temple Beth Am is typically one of the top fundraisers for Camp Jenny, bringing in nearly $10,000 each year. BAFTY is asking for your support to help our teens create the most impactful experience possible for these young campers.

Help our teens reach their goals!
