JCC Book Festival Presents…Elizabeth Graver

Alper JCC Miami 43rd Annual Berrin Family Jewish Book Festival presents: Elizabeth Graver, author of Kantika

Temple Beth Am is honored to participate once again in the 43rd Annual Berrin Family Jewish Book Festival. This year, we welcome Elizabeth Graver as she speaks about her newest novel, Kantika.

Recently selected as a community read through Hadassah Magazine, Kantika was inspired by Graver’s grandmother, who was born into a Sephardic Jewish family in Istanbul, and whose tumultuous and shape-shifting life journey took her to Spain, Cuba and New York. Exploring endurance and family as home, this kaleidoscopic portrait of one family’s displacement across four countries follows the joys and losses of Rebecca Cohen, feisty daughter of Sephardic elite of early 20th century Istanbul, as it explores identity, place, exile, and the tenacity of women.

Dessert Reception to follow.
