Exploring the Brain: Autism Expert Shares Her Insights

One in 36 people are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, according to the latest statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Join us in celebrating Autism Awareness Month by deepening our understanding of the condition, its impact on the community, and how we can better support those affected.

During this 1-hour presentation, our autism expert, Dr. Diane Adreon, will dive into the challenges and opportunities facing individuals with autism and their families and share the latest insights.

Dr. Adreon is Division Director of the Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation Transition & Adult Programs at UM-NSU CARD. She has been with UM-NSU CARD since its inception in 1993 and has worked with individuals with autism spectrum disorder & related disabilities for the past 40 years. She received her doctorate in special education from Nova Southeastern University and her master’s degree in special education and applied behavior analysis from Teacher’s College in New York City. Dr. Adreon is one of the editors of the Organization for Autism Research’s guide to autism level 1 supports and has co-authored three books on autism spectrum disorder: Special considerations for students with autism spectrum disorder: A guide for school administrators (with Myles), Simple strategies that work! Helpful hints to all educators of students with Asperger syndrome, high-functioning autism, and related disabilities (with Myles & Gitlitz), and Asperger syndrome and adolescence: Practical strategies for school success (with Myles). In addition, Dr. Adreon is a consulting editor for Focus on Autism & Other Developmental Disabilities and Intervention in School & Clinic.
