2023 — Jason, Laura, Charlie, Oliver and Henry Haim
We are incredibly honored and humbled to be named Temple Beth Am’s Family of the Year. This congregation is far more than just a place of worship for us; it is the backdrop of our family’s history. For Laura, TBAM is where she grew up—from her Bat Mitzvah and religious school days to playing Beth Am Basketball with her father and her older brother as her coaches. Today, we feel a profound sense of continuity as our own children, Oliver (12), Charlie (10), and Henry (6), follow in those same footsteps, filling their Sundays with religious school and their afternoons on the basketball court.
Our involvement at TBAM has always been a labor of love and a way to give back to the community that has given us so much. We believe deeply in the importance of active service, whether it is Laura leading our Mitzvah Day project for four consecutive years and serving on the search committees for the Head of School and Head of Early Childhood Program, or Jason coaching the boys on the court and serving on the Board of Directors, the Management Team, and as Treasurer. This synagogue is where we live our values of Tikkun Olam and where we strive to demonstrate the importance of Jewish leadership and community responsibility to our three sons.
Temple Beth Am has been the setting for our family’s most cherished memories. We have celebrated brises here, look forward to our sons’ upcoming Bar Mitzvahs, and have shared countless simchas with the lifelong friends we’ve made within these walls. We are so grateful for this recognition and for the opportunity to raise our children in a community that so beautifully reflects the heart of our Jewish values. Thank you for this incredible honor.
