2016–17 — Dan Levine

Congratulations to Dan Levine, 2016–17 recipient of The Harry Gunther Service Award, which is presented to a deserving Beth Am member who has worked for the benefit of the Temple community in a way which would be considered “above and beyond.”

The award was presented at the Temple Beth Am Annual Meeting on May 7, 2017.

Prior to that, he was on the Executive, Finance and Tikkun Olam Committees, and the Shabbos Sub-Committee. Previously, he was Chairman of the Youth Engagement Religious School (YERS) Board.

Dan served as a member of the Rabbinic Search Committee, which in January 2015 completed its work in selecting Rabbi Jeremy Barras as our Senior Rabbi.

In February 2016, Dan and his wife, Lauren, and children Jaclyn and Ray were named recipients of the Committee of 100’s 2016 “Family of the Year” Award, for their continued participation in our Temple community and their ongoing commitment to congregational leadership.

Dan and his local band, Cutler Stew, perform each year at YERS Live!, an annual effort to raise money for YERS scholarships to continue the tradition of making programs as accessible to as many children as possible.

This award is named for Harry Gunther, a special man and founding member who made Temple Beth Am a high priority during his lifetime. His widow, Ethelle, remained an active member of the Temple Beth Am family for nearly 60 years until her death in 2013.
