We welcome our new Head of School

Temple Beth Am Day School is thrilled to welcome
our new Head of School — Nora Anderson!

Raised in Lima, Peru, Nora came to the United States to pursue a BA in Psychology with minors in Education and Mathematics from Stern College for Women at Yeshiva University. In 1984, Nora began her teaching career as a mathematics teacher in the Bronx. After three years in teaching, Nora received an MS in School Guidance and Counseling from Lehman College at SUNY and worked as a Middle School Guidance Counselor for 10 years.

Nora continued her education by pursuing an MA in Education in School Supervision and Administration from Bank Street College of Education, and a Certificate in the Reading and Writing Process from Teachers College. Upon completion of this program, Nora became the Assistant Principal in the Bronx and in July 2001, she was appointed Middle School Assistant Principal at the Dobbs Ferry District in Westchester.

Nora also holds an advanced professional degree from Columbia University Business School Executive Education’s Institute for Day School Management. Nora has been a presenter at RAVSAK, PEJE and North American Jewish Day School Conferences. She has also served as mentor to newly appointed Heads of Schools for RAVSAK’s SuLAM Program as well as the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Day School Leadership Training Institute (DSLTI). Nora is a member of the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools Board of Trustees.

After serving as the Head of School for Carmel Academy in Greenwich, CT for 17 years, Nora is excited to join our Temple Beth Am family!
