In this “House of the People” my family and I found
a home. We were introduced to Reform Jewish
education, customs and values. There was an
intimacy between the clergy and the congregants
that I never realized existed. That made Temple Beth
Am and my family grow more meaningful every day.
The study of Torah gave me a reason for being a Jew
for all of my life—before, during, and after!

We were a young family when we moved to Miami
in 1977, and found a welcoming synagogue in our
neighborhood, Temple Beth Am, where all four of our
children attended religious and Hebrew school and
celebrated bar and bat mitzvahs. Little did we realize
that our children were not the only ones to receive
a Jewish education here. We found a rich offering of
intellectually stimulating adult classes where we studied
on Wednesday night, and Judy joined the Adult B’nai
Mitzvah class and began attending Sabbath Torah
study. For many years since then, both of us have
continued with weekly Torah study, where our lives are
enriched not only with the beauty of Torah, but also with
a very special community within Beth Am.
