Our Honorees reflect on their time at Temple Beth AM

Norman Einspruch

When Edith and I first walked into Temple Beth Am 46 years ago after moving to Miami, we immediately knew we had found our new spiritual home. For almost half a century, and especially across more than a decade of weekly Torah Study sessions, what I have treasured most is the chance to be a part of a stimulating and remarkable educational community. Rabbi Jeremy Barras fosters a learning experience that is infused with humor, grounded in deep understanding, consistently thought-provoking, and, above all, makes Torah and Talmud relevant to the lives we lead today. I am pleased to join Edith as a recipient of this recognition for devotion to Jewish learning.

Bobby Schatzman

Throughout my life, I have always prioritized my commitment to Jewish learning and involvement in Jewish organizations. For many years, I have sat on AJC’s Board of Directors. I am presently a member of its Executive Committee. For the past 25 years or more, while having been immersed in every phase of leadership at Beth Am, Throughout my life, I have always prioritized my commitment to Jewish learning and involvement in Jewish organizations. For many years, I have sat on AJC’s Board of Directors. I am presently a member of its Executive Committee. For the past 25 years or more, while having been immersed in every phase culminating with my service to our temple’s community as its president and subsequently as chairman of the Board of Trustees, I have never missed a Torah study (unless I was out of town). It was an honor to serve as a Gabbai at our High Holy Days Services for over 20 years. I was only disappointed I could not do so while I was president. Over the years, both Lorraine and I have taken many adult education courses and attended many presentations by guest lecturers at our temple. Beth Am has been a very special place for our family. Through four generations, we have belonged and been active in temple life and leadership. Beth Am has been woven into the fabric of our lives, and for all of these reasons, this award is so special to me.
