Madrichim Teaching Assistant Program
Hey, 8th–12th graders! Do you love working with young children? Are you interested in earning community service hours? Want to participate in another teen program at a discount? Our Madrichim Program is here for you!
The Madrichim Program is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills, earn community service hours and stay involved with Temple Beth Am! Madrichim serve as teacher’s assistants and role models for students in grades K–6 on Sunday mornings, Wednesday afternoons and/or Friday afternoons during Religious School.
What does “Madrichim” mean? Madrichim is best translated as “guides."
You will have the amazing opportunity to help our younger students grow and develop Jewishly by:
• Leading small group discussions and lessons, including the “Word of the Week.”
• Assisting children who need academic, social or emotional support.
• Helping to keep the classroom running smoothly by collecting tzedakah, prepping art projects, preparing snacks and more!
• Serving as a positive Jewish role model, showing our students just how much fun and meaning there is in Jewish learning and life!
When Can I Teach?
Grades K–6 Sundays 9:30 am–12:00 pm
Grades 3–5 Wednesdays 3:45–5:15 pm

Madrichim training sessions will occur from 9:15–10:00 am during the first part of Religious School on Sundays! We will focus on leadership skills, address challenges and successes in the classroom, practice informal teaching techniques and bond as a unit!
New this year!
First Aid and CPR Training & Certification is now included in the Madrichim program. This training will provide your teen with the ability to act quickly in emergency situations, strengthen their problem-solving skills and empower them with greater self-confidence. These life skills will set your teen apart when they apply for future jobs and college.
Madrichim attending a minimum of 80% of the sessions per semester will accumulate $75 of credit toward the cost of a teen program, such as BAFTY outings (trips to Universal, Sushi in the Sukkah, Mystery Bus Ride, etc.) and transportation to NFTY-STR conferences (kallot). Tuition for fellowships, MNC, Shevet Achim/Rosh Chodesh or other annual programs are excluded.
