Temple Beth Am’s Ambassador Program
The Ambassador Mission
The goal of the Ambassador program is to improve integration of new member and to increase Temple Beth Am's membership retention. When congregants reach out to welcome new members, they feel comfortable and connected, and are more likely to maintain a long and meaningful relationship with Temple Beth Am.
What is a Temple Beth Am Ambassador?
A Temple Beth Am Ambassador is a Temple member who has been asked to welcome individuals and families who have recently joined our community. An ambassador helps new members become acclimated to the Beth Am community by inviting these new members to join the ambassador at services and other synagogue events.
What is expected of me as a Temple Beth Am Ambassador?
You will make an initial telephone call to welcome the new member(s), introduce yourself and invite that member to meet you at an upcoming Temple service/event. Your phone call should be followed up with an email, as many people prefer to correspond that way.
Try to meet your new members face-to-face and invite them to meet you at a service/event. You should introduce this new member to your friends and other Ambassadors, so they can meet more members of our community.
How are new members assigned to me?
New members will be assigned to Ambassadors based on similar interest or demographics. For example, you have children the same age. We want this to be a positive experience for both you and the new members, so every effort is to make a good match.
How many new members will be assigned to me?
You will be assigned approximately two new member families each year.
How long am I expected to contact that new member?
Our hope is that this will be a positive experience and you will ultimately become familiar with the new members you have been assigned and look forward to seeing them around Beth Am.
