Accounts Payable and Receivable Clerk

Job Summary/Description:

Temple Beth Am, the House of the People, was founded in 1955, and located in the Village of Pinecrest in South Miami-Dade County. We are a nurturing and caring Reform congregation committed to Jewish continuity, life-long education, and spiritual renewal. In addition to our religious services, we have a robust Early Childhood program, Rambam Day school and our Youth Engagement Religious school.

Accounts Payable and Receivable clerk will:

  • Works with the Finance team including Finance Director to ensure that all monthly and annual tasks are completed in a timely fashion
  • Maintains current and historical financial documents (Filing and organizing)
  • Maintain financial security by following internal accounting controls and completing database backups
  • Prepares and mails invoices
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions
  • Verifies accounts by reconciling statements and transactions
  • Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation, issuing stop payments and adjustments.
  • Contacts delinquent accounts and notifies customers of insufficient payments
  • Verifies transaction information, enters charges and refunds
  • Pays invoices by verifying transactions information (scheduling, preparing disbursements)
  • Obtaining payment authorizations

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, & the ability to adjust focus. The requirements of this job include extensive use of the computer and telephone.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is rarely exposed to the risk of electrical shock. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
