Focused on safety and empowerment for adult and young digital citizens, and a discussion of their own experiences with social media and online hate. Using tablet computers, small groups will apply the Center for Media Literacy’s Five Key Questions to examine curated examples of online hate. The workshop also covers the consequences of online hate and the concept of a “digital footprint.”\nSession 2: Fact or Fiction? Digital Media Literacy Workshop\nSunday, May 4 from 2:30-3:20 pm\nThis digital media literacy workshop helps us critically evaluate images and articles to determine their authenticity. Using tablet computers, participants play a “Fact or Fiction” game, assessing the accuracy of presented information. Facilitators lead a discussion on the distinctions between fact, opinion, bias, and propaganda, exploring the motivations behind the creation of misleading images and articles.\nAbout Mobile Museums of Tolerance\nThe first-of-its-kind in the United States, the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Mobile Museums of Tolerance (MMOT) are free, traveling education centers utilizing innovative technology, interactive programs, and curricula to combat antisemitism and other forms of hate. The MMOT aims to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to promote human dignity by empowering them to raise their voices to combat antisemitism, bullying, racism, hate, and intolerance.\n
