SUMMARY:An Evening with Etgar Keret
DESCRIPTION:Presented in association with Miami Book Fair\nInternationally-acclaimed writer and filmmaker Etgar Keret brings his signature wit and observation to a deeply personal talk at The Hub where Keret will discuss his mother, his life in Israel and his lifelong experience as the child of a Holocaust survivor.\nKeret’s first exposure to making up stories was his mother’s bedtime stories. Sometimes fictional, sometimes real, his mother’s stories were shaped by her experiences growing up in a Poland ghetto during WWII. In this talk Keret discusses the magical childlike world of his mother, juxtaposed by the horror of the war around her. In telling his mother’s stories, Keret seeks to find an understaning of the forces that have impacted his family and himself.\nKeret is considered the most influential Israeli writer of his generation and has received numerous awards including the Canera D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Chevalier Medallion of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He is a contributor to This American Life and his work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and publications around the world.\nJoin us for this engaging conversation with Etgar Keret, followed by a reception.\nTickets: $20. Purchase here. ( https://ci.ovationtix.com/36713/production/1206732?performanceId=11497911 )\n
