Program Guide

The YAD Experience is Temple Beth Am's learning program for grades 7–12.

YAD means hand in Hebrew. When our teens participate in the YAD Experience, they learn about Judaism by experiencing it, hands on!  Our program combines the best of experiential, informal and formal education that strengthens Jewish identity, spirituality and community.

YAD's Mission: To engage teens through experiential education, empower them to be knowledgeable, active members of the Jewish community, and create social experiences to have fun!

Four core elements headline the experience:

Monday Night CHAI: A night for ALL teens to participate in youth group, formal and informal learning, and enjoy dinner as a teen community.

Youth Groups: Meet at Monday Night CHAI and enjoy peer-led programming, leadership opportunities, mitzvah projects, off-campus social events, regional kallot (conventions) and so much more!

Travel: to Alabama, Washington, D.C. and New Orleans.

Shabbaton: a Shabbat experience that includes a Friday night teen-led service with the congregation, Saturday morning t'filah and informal programming with Temple Clergy and the YAD faculty.
