   Tikkun Olam... Repairing the World!

Homeless Assistance

Did you know that members of Temple Beth Am prepare and serve dinner on the second Sunday of every month at the South Miami-Dade Homeless Assistance Shelter in Homestead, run by Community Partnership for Homeless?

This shelter provides food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, daycare, job training and placement to men, women and families with children. Volunteers prepare the dinner in an industrial-size kitchen and then serve it to the residents cafeteria-style in the dining room.

This is a worthwhile project for families and community service hours are available. For more information and to sign up, call Lisa Green, 305.666.8554.

Caps For A Cure

Caps For A Cure is a project that was started by Rebekah Davis, daughter of Beth & Andy Davis, to honor her grandfather, Richard, who fought cancer and won, and also in memory of her grandmother, Pat, who lost her battle with cancer less than two weeks after diagnosis.

Caps are being knitted for kids with cancer so that they will feel cared for and money is also raised for The American Cancer Society to help find a cure for cancer.

Teen Tzedaka

As young Jewish citizens who value community, responsibility and knowledge, we can continue our commitment to help to repair the world through acts of giving.

Temple Beth Am is supporting a Teen Tzedaka group for all teenage students. This act of tzedaka provides a wonderful opportunity for us, as Jewish youth, to engage in a discussion about the needs in our community and throughout the world.

As a group, we can make substantial contributions to various causes and organizations. This
also is a perfect venue for us to confirm our dedication to service and receive community service hours. Watch for a Teen Tzedaka letter in your mailbox.

Thank you.

Habitat for Humanity

Volunteers from Temple Beth Am have joined various Miami-Dade congregations at one of Habitat for Humanity's building sites in Miami-Dade County.

We are proud to have helped build homes for Habitat of Miami, which is responsible for building many hundreds of houses in Miami-Dade over the past 15 years. Habitat also provides no-interest loans to its homeowners to help build community.
