10th Grade & Confirmation

10th grade and Confirmation fall under the umbrella of the YAD Experience, our teen learning program at Temple Beth Am. 

Confirmation is a life cycle service developed by leaders of the Reform movement about 100 years ago to honor teenagers who have decided to continue their Jewish education into adulthood.  Teens gather to meet, learn, struggle and engage with our clergy, staff, each other, and confirm their Jewish identity, commitment to Jewish learning, and the Jewish people. 

To prepare for this milestone, teens experience:

• classroom-based and informal learning with staff and clergy at Monday Night CHAI.
• a Shabbat experience that includes a Friday night teen-led service with the congregation, Saturday morning t'filah and informal programming with Temple Clergy and the YAD faculty.
• a Social Justice Seminar in Washington D.C. with the Religious Action Center.
• a mitzvah project to be decided by the Confirmation class.
