Dr. Alan Mason's work in synagogue music began in 1991 when Cantor Rachelle Nelson invited him to become the accompanist at Temple Israel of Greater Miami. Alan remained in that position for 26 years, recently retiring from Temple Israel as Musical Director Emeritus.
Alan also accompanied B'nai Mitzvah services at Temple Beth Am throughout the 1990s, and during that time became known throughout the country as a leading accompanist for cantors, Jewish choirs and major synagogue events. He is active as an accompanist with the American Conference of Cantors, the Cantors Assembly, the Union for Reform Judaism, the North American Jewish Choral Festival, the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Guild of Temple Musicians.
Alan is the Director of HaZamir Miami, a chapter of HaZamir: The International Jewish High School Choir, and in 2014 retired from his position as a tenured Associate Professor of Music at Barry University.
Come pray with us. Add to the sound of our voices. Together, we will make a joyful noise!
