Sharing a meal is one of the most gratifying ways to show your hospitality while conveying a sense of your values to others. The Sisterhood of Temple Beth Am is pleased to host the South Florida Syrian Supper Club as we meet women from the Syrian community in Miami and bond over food and shared stories.
The meal will be vegetarian, prepared by young refugee mothers from Syria. Their menu offers a delicious assortment of sweet and savory flavors. Prior to the meal, participants will be able to observe and help with some of the food preparation. As we say a blessing before eating, we will also light the Chanukah candles, share a holiday tradition and sing a traditional Chanukah melody.
During the meal, the chefs will join Sisterhood participants to talk (facilitated by a translator). During dessert, a more formal discussion will take place with the chefs sharing their immigrant stories, how they have settled in Miami, and aspirations for their future. There will be a short Question & Answer period as well.
