Temple Beth Am’s Social Justice Speaker Series presents...
Marjory Stoneman Douglas School Safety Law: A Conversation on Gun Violence
In the wake of multiple school shootings, lawmakers and parents struggle with how to prevent these tragic events from happening in their communities.
Featuring... Maria & Fred Wright, who lost their son, Jerry, in Orlando’s 2015 Pulse Nightclub tragedy. The Wrights are honoring their son, and all other victims of gun violence, by going public with their story.
“When Jerry was killed we were so utterly devastated. It was hard to keep trust and faith. Trying to bring something good out of the evil and to prevent others from knowing this incredible pain has given us a way to honor and remember our child, and also provided us a purpose and a mission.” — Maria & Fred Wright
Wednesday, December 4th, 7:00 pm
We also welcome Temple Beth Am congregant and attorney, Stephanie Langer, who will explain the new provisions of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas School Safety Law. Florida is being watched closely by the rest of the country to see if this law should be replicated in other states.
Join us to learn how the provisions of the School Safety Law are being implemented in Florida's public schools — as well as some of the unintended consequences.
Free and open to the community. RSVP to Janice Baisman, firstname.lastname@example.org, 786.364.9445
