Marilyn Herskowitz Education Fund
The Marilyn Herskowitz Jewish Education Fund has been created by the Herskowitz family, in loving memory of and in honor of Marilyn Kornstein Herskowitz.

The fund was created to support the following needs of our Temple Beth Am youth:

  • Jewish Summer Camp Scholarships
  • High School in Israel Program Scholarships
  • Other Israel Teen Programs
  • Jewish educational programs outside of school

Marilyn taught her family the importance of tradition, of community and tzedakah, of faith and love, of education and of the significance of Israel to the Jewish people. The Herskowitz family feels blessed to be able to create this fund and give in this way to Jewish children who can appreciate and love Israel and Judaism the way Marilyn always did.

Corners of our Fields Scholarship Fund
We are happy to announce the Corners of our Fields Scholarship Program, designed to help those Temple Beth Am families who are struggling financially during these times.

The Torah teaches that those who have a surplus offer the corners of their produce to anyone who could use a helping hand. This scholarship fund, created in 2020 as a result of the COVID pandemic, offers additional financial assistance to Day School families who have suffered a financial hardship as a result of the pandemic. We are grateful to the Culverhouse family to have given an extremely generous lead gift.

If you and your family are fortunate enough to have not been affected economically by the pandemic, we strongly urge you to consider donating to this scholarship fund. This will allow us to help other families that are experiencing financial hardship to continue to give their child(ren) a Temple Beth Am Day School education.

Dr. Irwin Perlmutter Academic Scholarship Fund
This academic scholarship fund was created through a very generous gift from Eliza & Hugh Culverhouse in honor of Irwin Perlmutter, M.D., renowned South Florida neurosurgeon and founding member of Temple Beth Am.

Open to Temple Beth Am member children of all ages — from Early Childhood through 5th Grade — this need-based scholarship provides support for education and grants more students the opportunity to attend Temple Beth Am Day School.

Matthew Kass Scholarship Fund

The Shepard King Scholarship Fund

The Lenore Kipper Endowment Fund

Lewis D. Silverman M.D. Scholarship Fund

Keren Yaldi Children’s Fund

YERS Holocaust and Heritage Fund
The YERS Holocaust and Heritage Fund has been created by Temple Beth Am’s Executive Director, Sharón Levi, after going on the 2023 Multigenerational Trip to Poland. He believes that every member of Temple Beth Am should be offered the opportunity to experience firsthand the transformative power of this journey. This Fund will subsidize costs for future trips. This initiative will enable every member to appreciate the significance of this powerful, meaningful, and spiritually enriching Holocaust and Heritage trip.

Tikkun Olam General Fund

Tina Forster Fund

Refugee Assistance Fund
Guided by the Jewish principle of Tikkun Olam or “to repair the world,” your Temple Beth Am community has sponsored refugee families and we need a myriad of volunteers to assist each family in their effort to become acclimated to their new environment. We will help them navigate schools for their children, learn the language, establish credit and understand basic information that will help them integrate into our community.

We also need your financial assistance, anything you feel comfortable providing. The families will receive some government aid, but we all know the cost of living is very high.

Caring Community Fund

Garden Sanctuary Fund

Funds collected for the Garden will be used to supplement regular maintenance of the garden, as well as to help subsidize seasonal plantings.

From one Generation to the next — in Hebrew L’dor v’dor — the Jewish community has been preserved and sustained by its participants.

Temple Beth Am was built by founding members with vision: the Home for our Heritage Campaign funded the expansion and renovation of our campus. Our temple remains a center for Jewish Life in Miami. It is the responsibility of our current School and Temple participants to secure its future for generations to come by creating the necessary endowment funds.

Over recent years, our endowments have secured commitments from our congregants, generous friends and neighbors to help us preserve and enhance all of the services and programming offered at Temple Beth Am.

These monies are collected and placed on deposit into accounts invested securely with the Foundation of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. The fiduciary volunteers from our Board of Trustees work to preserve and grow these funds so that the interest earned can be utilized to enrich the lives of our Schools and Temple.

As we secure additional cash commitments, we will continue to work with our participating partners in the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s Create a Jewish Legacy (CJL) campaign. CJL calls upon every member of the community to remember Jewish organizations in their estate planning. Legacy gifts are an additional way to secure the future of Temple Beth Am with funds in the future. Some in our community will choose to remember Temple Beth Am. Others will have the opportunity to include other schools, synagogues and service providers. All gifts — cash and legacy commitments — will be utilized as designated by the donor.

We will continue to share our success with the Temple Beth Am community. If you would like more information, please contact Nancy Levy, [email protected].

Imagine the Vision, Invest in Our Future, Fulfill the Dream
What is a Named Fund? Who does it Benefit? How is it Used?

A Named Fund is a Philanthropic Fund in which a donor(s) makes a designated gift to a specific area of interest or program. A Named Fund can be named after you, your family or a loved one. Named Funds are restricted gifts utilized in their entirety over a period of years, or within that same calendar year.

Temple Beth Am Named Funds are established at a minimum gift of $50,000*; however, everyone can participate by donating to a current Named Fund or by families coming together for a common cause. For example, ten (10) families can pool their funds to establish a Named Fund.

The following are examples of current and approved Temple Beth Am Named Fund opportunities. These are categorized by area of interest and can be expanded upon through need and donor support. Please note that all Named Fund gifts, and contributions to existing Named Funds, are completely tax-deductible.

For additional confidential information, without obligation, please contact Nancy Levy, [email protected].

Thank you in advance for your Expressions of Gratitude toward Temple Beth Am, Rambam Day School and Temple Beth Am Religious School.
