Temple Beth Am operates the largest temple-based basketball league in the country and has done so for over 30 years — featuring two indoor and outdoor state-of-the-art courts.

Last year there were over 700 players from grades 3rd–12th grade. A wholly volunteer led committee oversees more than 100 coaches and assistant coaches.

The season runs from September to December and is open to both temple members and the entire community. Our High School league plays in the spring. The league emphasizes team play and sportsmanship, with a goal of improving players of all abilities.

"A number of the players who have grown up playing in the league have gone on to play for their respective school teams," notes Mark Gilbert, former Beth Am Basketball Commissioner. "Some even return to coach their younger siblings."

The Miami JCC girls basketball team has been undefeated for three years in the Maccabi Games, winning won Gold Medals in Dallas in 2005, Phoenix in 2006 and in Orange County in 2007.  All teams featured a large percentage of Beth Am basketball players.

The Miami JCC boys team, also featuring Beth Am players, won the Gold Medal in Dallas in 2005, and also medaled in Orange County in 2007.
